6 more postcards to share!

This week, Jack and I have received 6 more beautiful postcards!  I am excited to share them with you!

The first one is from Finland!

It's a picture from Northern Finland where there are many small mountains and winters are very dark, but the summers are very light!  There is a night where the sun does not set at all!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next postcard is also from Finland!

It's a cute little rabbit!!  The sender said that they see these in her garden all of the time and that in the summertime, they turn brown!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Next up.....France!
The Eiffel Tower shown in all four seasons!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next postcard is from Malasia!

It is a beautiful postcard of a flower from Malaysia....it is a handmade postcard and the picture was taken by the sender!  It was taken on a warm sunny morning....

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next postcard is from Taiwan!

It's a lovely postcard showing Sun Moon Lake.  Sun Moon Lake is the largest natural lake in Taiwan as well as a tourist attraction. Situated in Yuchih, Nantou, the area around the Sun Moon Lake is home to the Thao tribe, one of aboriginal tribes in Taiwan. Sun Moon Lake surrounds a tiny island called Lalu. The east side of the lake looks like a sun and the west side looks like a moon!

I love this postcard!  It's called a Klomp Huis, and it's a tourist attraction in Holland.

6 more postcards to share with you!

This last week, we have received 6 more beautiful postcards!!  I hope you will enjoy them as much as we have!

The first is from the Netherlands!
This picture is of a person sailing on the ice!  Jack thought that was pretty cool, seeing as he's only seen boats in the water!  The person who sent it said that in Holland, where she lives, if it's a strong winter, you can see this!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------

The next card is from Canada!

It's a picture of the Royal Canadian Mint at sunset!  That's quite a building!!  It makes all of the coins for Canada, as well as for 50 other countries as well!  (That includes the USA!)  The Olympic Medals were made at the sister plant in Ottawa!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The next one is from Guatemala!!

This is a picture of the Quetzal, the national bird!  It is so beautiful!  The resplendent quetzal is an aptly named bird that many consider among the world's most beautiful. These vibrantly colored animals live in the mountainous, tropical forests of Central America where they eat fruit, insects, lizards, and other small creatures.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

The next one is from Kazakhstan!!

This card shows the beautiful mountains of Kazakhstan...they are very close to the city!  Zailiysky Alatau is a 4000m+ peak situated in the Tian Shan range running between Almaty and Lake issyk-Kul. This region is paradise for trekkers, with various trails cutting through a region filled with glaciers, rivers, steep valleys, nomadic herders and panoramic views. Zailiysky Alatau is located near Küngey Alatau, another 4000m+ peak of Tian Shan. Alpinists and mountaineers may also be interested in summiting the mountain.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next beautiful postcard is from St. Vincent and the Grenadines!

It's from the St. Vincent and Grenadines Carnival!  It looks like it's so much fun!  Check out the official website for the carnival at http://www.carnivalsvg.com/

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our last one is from Taiwan!
Jack really liked this one, it's a beautiful drawing of a train going over a bridge!  Jack loves his trains, and he thought this one was really neat!

Three more today!

Yay!!  What a nice surprise to find three postcards today in the mailbox!

Our first one was Jacks favorite for today, and it came from Belarus!

He loves the picture of the wild boars!!
The card came from Brest, formerly also Brest-on-the-Bug and Brest-Litovsk.  It is a city (population 312,950 in 2008) in Belarus at the border with Poland opposite the city of Terespol, where the Western Bug and Mukhavets rivers meet.
Being situated on the main railway line connecting Berlin and Moscow, and an intercontinental highway (the European route E30), Brest became a principal border crossing since World War II in Soviet times. Today it links the European Union and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our second postcard comes from the Netherlands!
Totally cute!  I love cows, and Jack thought it was funny it was wearing wooden shoes!
It was from a young lady in Ternaard....
Ternaard is a small village in Dongeradeel in the province Friesland of the Netherlands and has around the 1400 citizens.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our third postcard came from Réunion!

Réunion is a French island of about 800,000 people located in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar, about 120 miles south west of Mauritius, the nearest island.

Administratively, Réunion is one of the overseas départements of France. Like the other overseas departments, Réunion is also one of the twenty-six regions of France (being an overseas region) and an integral part of the Republic with the same status as those situated on the European mainland.
Réunion is an outermost region of the European Union and, as an overseas department of France, is part of the Eurozone. Due to its location in a time zone to the east of Europe, Réunion was the first region in the world where the euro became legal tender.

Four more cards over the Holiday week!

This week we received four postcards!

My first one is from South Africa...It is definitely one of my favorites!

I love this postcard...I had seen it on the postcrossing website and contacted the sender to see if they would be able to send one to me....I love the sweet expressions on these childrens faces.  Thanks so much Kevin for sending this one out to me!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next one is from Turkey!

Ankara is the capital of Turkey, and is the second largest city after Istanbul.
There is a quote on the back:  "Peace at home, peace in the world" (Ataturk)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our third postcard comes from Eritrea!
Eritrea ,officially the State of Eritrea, is a country in the Horn of Africa.  The woman on the front is from the ethnic group Saho.  Most of the women dress like this, it is a traditional dress which has been kept for years.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our last postcard is from the Netherlands!
It shows many colorful scenes from Holland....my son loved the cows!!  I'm having a hard time choosing which picture I like the most....I love the tulips, the traditional shoes, and the heart in the middle!!

Hooray! Three postcards today!

Today we received three postcards!

The first one is from the Netherlands!
I have to say, this is probably one of my favorites!  I love tulips, they are my favorite flower and this picture is something much needed today after all of the rain and gloom we've had here in Connecticut!  Bright and cheery!!  Perfect!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next two are from Germany!

It's a picture of The Old Nikolai Church in Frankfurt.  The double-aisle Early Gothic church was mentioned as early as 1264, but it is considerably older. Visitors enjoy its harmonic carillon with 47 bells.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This one is also from Germany.  Bayreuth is the town that Richard Wagner (a famous opera composer) lived and worked in.  The city center still possesses the typical structure of a Bavarian street market: the settlement is grouped around a road widening into a square; the Town Hall was located in the middle.

It was a HUGE postcard week!

If you can believe it, we have received 18 postcards in the last two days!!!!  A few people sent a handful of cards from their countries, that was such a nice surprise!!

The first six are from Cyprus...all from the same woman that sent the picture of the monastery in the previous post!!  She sent a few with cute pictures that Jack would like as well as some scenery from where she lives!

I love all of them!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next one is from Illinois!  Jack and I really liked this one because it has a sock monkey on it...I had one as a small child, and Jack got one from his Grandma for Valentines Day!

Isn't it cute???

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This next one is from Holland...the Netherlands!  I love cows and tulips, so this one is perfect for me!!

Look at those tulips in the background...I am so jealous!!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The last one from yesterday was from Russia...such a pretty picture!!

They almost look like little blueberries on a pinetree!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today, we got 3 from a woman in Australia...totally cute!  They show some of the wildlife where she lives....she told me that she see kangaroos everyday in her yard!!

How can you not love thoses little koala bears!!????

-----------------------------------------------------------------
The next one is from Italy...it's the Basilica di Monte Berico in the Province of Vicenza.  It was built in 1680-1703!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Next up....Alaska!  What I thought was neat was that we are making Jacks bedroom look like a lodge, with moose and bears...and what shows up today??

Looks like this guy is enjoying some lunch!

--------------------------------------------------------------------

The other postcard that has to do with Jacks new room is this one from Canada!

Now, what's the chance of getting both a bear postcard and a moose postcard??  I think I am going to frame each of them for Jacks room!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

This next postcard is from China...Morning in the countryside in Gui Zhou Province...the houses are built on the mountain side!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our last one today came from South Africa!   From the Southern Tip of Africa, the city of George.  George is located right in between the mountains and the sea.  They have a sunny, hot climate with downpours occasionally.  The woman who sent it is a photographer and a grandma to 7!

She included some sentences in her mother tongue:  Afrikaans!
"Dankie vir die lekker gesels" - thanks for the nice chat!
"kom kuier gerus in S.A." - Do come and visit in South Africa!
"ons het pragtige wilde diere en wildspare" - we have beautiful wild life, game and game parks!
"Groete en beste wense aan julle!" - Greetings and best wishes to the two of you!

I liked that she did that!!

I am addicted!

I decided to check out Postcrossing.com after my cousin posted a link for it on Facebook...the thought of getting postcards from all over the world was pretty exciting to me!  I signed up instantly and also created an account for my son, Jack!  We've only been doing it for a few weeks, but I have already received postcards from Germany, Canada, Finland, and the Netherlands!  How awesome is that!
The people who send them have told me all about the picture on the front, what their hobbies are, or just say "hello!".

These are the postcards I have received so far!

This one is from The Netherlands!  It's pictures are from a National Park called Veluwe!  I love the animals!

This one is from Canada...Niagara Falls!  I have never been there, but it's not too far away, I should make sure I add this as one of my vacations soon!  It looks beautiful!

This one is from Finland!  Tell me that this isn't the life to live...A nice sauna overlooking a beautiful lake with your own dock!  I am totally jealous!

This was my first postcard that I received...it's from Germany!  I love all of the different scenes...it looks very peaceful!  My son Jack  loves the sheep!  Check out the field of flowers...just gorgeous!

Well, hopefully I will get some more postcards soon!  I have 3 more to send out today!!
