Today in the mail, we received a postcard from my new friend in South Australia! Not only does Graeme do Postcrossing, be he's also a geocacher! He does my favorite two hobbies!! Graeme is nice enough to take a couple of my 'trackable' items out on his geocaching adventures 'down under'! Hopefully he'll take a couple of pictures for me too! I'll be getting those out in the mail to him this week!
The postcard he sent is a picture of Ayers Rock...it's a large sandstone rock formation in the southern part of the Northern Territory, central Australia! It is sacred to the Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara, the Aboriginal people of the area. It has many springs, waterholes, rock caves and ancient paintings. Ayers Rock (also known as Uluru) is listed as a World Heritage Site. Very cool!
Imagine how awesome this would be to see in person!

Two more today!!
Jack and I got two more postcards today!! Both were postcard swaps...one from Czech Republic and the other was from Italy!! I love getting these postcards from all over the world!!
This is the one from Italy...the woman who sent it lives in Milan. The cathedral in the upper left corner is from where she lives!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next one is from the Czech Republic! It's from a historical town called Louny. Some of the pictures are of the Marionette Theater, St. Nicolas Church and the old stone wall called Zatee Gate!
It's so great seeing all of these different and historic places from all over the world...I think I need to start planning my retirement of traveling the world! (about 25 years early!)

Jack got a postcard today!
Jack was the lucky one today...he got a postcard from Holland!! A really cute one showing Eteling...a popular theme-park! Jack really liked the cool tree house and the polar bear slide! He wants to go there now, so I had to explain that we probably wouldn't be going anytime soon.....UNFORTUNATELY!

Jackpot!! We received 8 postcards in 2 days!!
Wow! Between yesterday and today, Jack and I received 8 postcards in the mail!!
I was very excited to see that there were so many!
My first one was from New Zealand...
It is a beautiful ship, a replica of the Endeavour, the ship that Captain Cook was on when he first sighted New Zealand in 1769! The woman who sent it, coincidentally, lived here in Connecticut for a year as an AFS student only about 20 minutes away from where I live! Her host parents are now visiting New Zealand, getting away from the cold New England weather!! What a small world!
We received 3 from one woman in Greece! She said she couldn't decide what we'd like the best, so she sent all 3!! How cool is that??

This one says Vue De La Ville D'Athenes...
I love it...it is hand drawn and shows a scene of long ago!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This one is in Peloponnese...it's the statue of Nikitaras, a famous revolutionary during the Greek revolution against the Turkish People.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is from one of the numerous islands in the Aegean Sea...it's current population is 2,000! Maybe they wouldn't mind a couple of more people?? It's beautiful!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our next one is from Portugal!
It's from Aveiro, a city in the north of Portugal near the sea.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next one was sent to my son Jack who is also collecting postcards!
It's from Belgium!!
How cute is that?? It's from a graphic design student in Aarschot, a small town in Belgium. She said that it's been very cold and there is a lot of snow!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another card for Jack came in today from Canada! Well, the man from Canada was on vacation in Seattle, Washington, so he sent it from there!
He is actually from Sudbury, which is north of Toronto, Ontario!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
And our last one from today is also Jacks....
from Switzerland!!
It's Felix the rabbit, who delivers mail all over the world!! I love this card, it's so cute, and what a perfect subject...delivering mail!! :)
Jack really enjoyed the giraffe on it, and thought it was pretty funny that a rabbit could ride a bike!
